Mental Health Coordinator

Sam is a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who has been working in the field for over 10 years. Sam has a passion for working with children and has extensive experience in mental health, substance misuse, and child protective services.

Sam earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Jacksonville State University and went on to obtain a Master's degree in Social Work from JSU as well. Sam has worked in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, and community mental health centers, providing individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults.

Throughout Sam's career, He has developed a special interest in working with children who have experienced trauma and has undergone specialized training that targets students with behavioral issues. Sam is also skilled in helping families navigate the child welfare system and has experience working with children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

Sam's warm, humorous, and empathetic nature, combined with a deep understanding of the complex issues facing children and families, make Sam a great addition to the DeKalb BOE as the new Mental Health Services Coordinator.
